Hi everyone :) I got a momma & dadda muscovy and 5 of their babies about a month ago the first few days they were just eating birdseed because thats what I had on hand. I'd read online to feed them turkey pellets so hubby brought me home a big bag of turkey grower. Since the bag is almost empty (and I've been concerned the turkey pellets may not satisfy the additional niacin requirements of waterfowl) I've been doing more research and I am SOOOOO lost on what to feed the little devils 0_0 From everything I read they're called ducks but aren't exactly ducks and are more like geese but not like geese and kinda like a chicken but way different from a chicken and the only resource I've found for what to feed them is what they eat in the wild in their natural habitat - which is great, but beyond my ability at the moment and I just need to know what commercial feed will keep them healthy and meet their needs. I'm currently raising them for meat but plan to eat the breeding ladies eggs after they brood a spring nest. The local feed store that I know of has....
  • Countryrite Chick Starter (plain, medicated & organic)
  • Countryrite Poultry Grower (plain, medicated & organic)
  • Countryrite Lay Ration (16%, 18% & organic)
  • Countryrite Turkey Starter (plain, medicated & organic)
  • Countryrite Turkey Grower (plain, medicated & organic)
  • Countryrite Turkey Finisher (plain & organic)
  • Countryrite Duck & Geese Starter
  • Countryrite Duck & Geese Grower
  • Countryrite Game Bird / Turkey Starter Plain
  • Countryrite Game Bird Grower
  • Countryrite Game Bird Base Ration

Any help anyone? Please?..

There's another local feed store that has suet cakes, bird pies, wild bird seeds, broiler feeds, layer feeds, and turkey feeds as well but I can't find any more info than that on their website :/

Oh! and I've 5 chicks so they've gotten the occasional meal of non-medicated chick starter to - I've half a 50lb bag left and my chicks are approx a month old :)

If there's young ones they get a chick starter, otherwise they get a pelleted All Flock ration which is easier to swallow than the crumbles. My hens prefer eggshells to oyster shells but they get both.
