Hi,
I have an issue with eggs being broken and looks like something just took a bite out of the middle. As far as I can tell it is not the usual way the hens eat one. usually they don't leave anything, hardly a piece of shell.

So any guesses as to what it might be?

Their coop is pretty solid.

I check for eggs before I close them up, so it must happen early morning before I let them out.

It may be my hens again but it is not usual as I said before.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Last year we found out that mice and rats like eggs and they don't always clean up after themselves. If your coop is a good coop a mouse or rat can still get in. It amazes me what a tiny spot they can get in to.
