You guys I need help!
This 6 week old chick has been losing feathers like crazy. It started out just on her bottom but now it's under her feathers and around her neck. We checked pretty closely for mites or any moving creepy crawlys and as far as I can tell, there are non. No other chicks have this. I feed them Scratch and peck starter, water W/ACV and chick grit.

Some of my male chicks have feathered out like that, completely bald under the wings until much much later than the girls. The feathers always seem to come in there last, period, for mine, but the boys sometime after the 6 week mark.... but that bottom looks really raw... a bacterial skin infection maybe? 🤔 Do your other ones roost, by chance, and that one sleep on the floor with the droppings?

As far as I can see before closing time, it roosts with the others above. The bottom on this guy is strangely blueish purple.. This has been going on for 3 weeks now but it doesnt seem to get progressively worse in terms of the actual skin, just the feather loss

Any feather picking going on that you've noticed? Or any other symptoms, such as diarrhea? That'll scald pretty good. Have you tried any triple antibiotic ointment on this one? If it's not mites, I don't have many suggestions other than something neosporin like to see if there's some sort of mild infection going on. Chicken skin always looks SO uncomfortable without feathers evenwhenthere isn't anything going on!

Maybe someone else might have a more educated idea for you! And if they don't, keep me posted and I'll brainstorm with you! :)
