With Coturnix what is a good age to sex them and what is the best way?|
We have a variety of colors.
I just want to make sure I get the correct ratio male ~ female.
Also when putting them together is best to put all the same colors in cage or mix colors up?

Sexing depends on what colors they are. Golden, brown, and cinnamon can be sexed as early as 2-3 weeks old by the markings (or lack of) on their breast feathers. Males should have a solid colored breast and females should have spotted breasts.
Any other color, and I just wait till they are sexually mature, usually around 5-6 weeks for pharoah sized birds, or 6-10 weeks for jumbo sized, basically whenever you hear the males starting to crow. You check the vents (monarc23 has a pic and video somewhere on checking for the foam). Males have a white foam come out when you press just below the vent, females don't. The males will also be very swollen in this area.

As for the colors, it's basically whatever you want to do.

A&M is recessive to everything except tibetan. A&M and tibetan would make a tuxedo. Golden is dominant over everything but tibetan, with 2 of 3 chicks from a golden/brown being golden.

I have most of my same-colored birds together, but I do have a couple pens that are mixed. One of my pens is all white birds, one is all browns, and one is all tuxedo birds. Then I have another pen that has 2 goldens, 1 rosetta, and 1 brown pharoah, and another pen that has 2 cinnamons, 2 red goldens, and one tuxedo (cause she was getting bullied in the other pens).

If you have a specific 'what do I get with an X to X breeding' question, that would be very helpful

Thank you, VERY helpful. I am going to wait another week or two then after everyone is sexed (in this batch) I will be posting a x crossed with x question, I am sure! Let me see what color of boys vs girls I have first.
But Thank you!!!!!!
