I've got two broodys sitting on eggs right now. One broody was sitting on 5 eggs. Yesterday I went out and she had come off the nest to eat and drink and I looked in her nest and noticed that three eggs were broken and the insides gone. The eggs that were freshly laid in the other boxes were untouched. I took some of the other eggs and put them in her nest thinking maybe she just sat on them wrong and busted them. Today I go back out there while she is out and the original two eggs are broken/missing (one egg was busted and the other completely gone). The eggs that I had put in there yesterday were untouched. The other fresh eggs were untouched too. Is something getting into the coop besides the chickens or could it be the chickens themselves? No I don't have a separate broody box because it is still on my to do list. I'm trying to get the man on it this weekend. The coop is also penned in although we do leave the door to the pen open during the day while the girls roam in the yard. The other broody is doing fine but she is also more aggressive and doesn't come off her nest that often.

Egg eaters usually aren't very neat, so check their faces. If it's not the chickens eating the eggs...something else is.

This happened to me once. Started with ten eggs, ended up with one.

Luckily, I was able to get some chicks for her from the feed store.
