What is it that judges look for when judging chickens?

How do I know what the standards are, and if my chicken is "show worthy"?

I have a Black Australorp and a SL Wyandotte. And I have many more different (rare) breeds coming.

get an edition of the A.P.A's american standard of perfection. next thing is to enter shows doesnt usually cost much to enter and then youll see how good or bad your chickens do. when you are at the show find other people there who are showing the same things you are and ask q's most people are very friendly and helpfull.

And if you have bantam breeds, the Bantam Standard publkished by the American Bantam Association is your best choice.

Especially, ask the people who consistently do well &/or breed club representatives who may happen to be at the show. Some of these people will be judges themselves but are not judging in that particular show.
