I don't know if any of you others deal with this issue in selling eggs and chicks but I'm just curious here and want to see if I'm not alone (i assume im not but basically just want some support here haha)!

Why is it that people inquire to my ads....and for one ask me questions already layed out and answered in the ad itself? The thing is, im nice and re-answer the question anyhow to give them the benifit of the doubt.

THEN when they find out the price already stated in the ad for what im selling (Pure bred silkie pullet btw 2 months old white) I get told that they will be looking else where because that PRICE is outrageous for a chick!? After the person had just wasted my time (all day long mind you) and I even took time to send her a picture of the pullet in question. And at the end of it all when she finds out the price she already knew (had she read the ad) she tells me never mind.

This was NOT on byc by the way, this was on a classified ad I had made and she emailed me about. I get this every now and then and normally its a person asking way too many questions and then blowing me off when they don't like that I didn't give them any more of a deal than they wanted.

Just gets me sometimes... my friend who raises show rabbits and she has people calling her and telling her that her SHOW rabbits are priced too high and should only be $15 dollars.... well YEAH if they were meat rabbits maybe... but not show rabbits that she paid for the show stock at around $150-$50 PER rabbit (and she sells them at $50 with pedigree $30 without). Its just a shame. I understand the economy but that doesn't mean ignore set prices and whine when they aren't what you want.

ETA this pullet in question I was selling for $20 for the trio (two cockerels and a pullet) or $10 each (because I knew people would want the pullet and leave me with the cockerels) LOL.

Yes newly hatched. Started birds are more expensive..... I have noticed though, that on Craigslist, people don't know a buff orpington from a peacock.

i'd LOVE to buy a peacock for the price of a buff orp! LOL!

I remember looking for a BO roo. I called about 6 different places and none of them knew the breed of what they were selling. I am not driving all over the place to help them identify their birds just to see if it is what I want!

Last year, my husband's friends other friend was always coming to our place. he was very annoying and kind of creeped out my kids. I was raising meat birds at the time. He kept hinting that he wanted to try a pasture raised chicken. I told him several times I was selling them for $2.50/lb.

When they came back from the processor, he came around and asked point blank if he could have one. I said--what size? He says around 6lbs would be nice. so I picked one out, told him the price and he wanted to know if I would trade for hair products. ( he delivers to hair dressing shops in our area) I said no ( I am a farmer gal, do not wear any product in my hair, don't colour it or anything.) he said what about hubby? I said he uses somoe type of hair paste--(don't know what it's called) he said--what if I get you a bunch of hair paste in trade.

I really wanted to get rid of this guy, so I said sure-fine.

Never did see him again, but one day hubby was at their mutual friends house, and heshowed up. Hubby said--where's my haid stuff. Jerk gave him a small sample tube of some type of hair gel.

that's just pathetic that's just like the fact that I like reptiles, some of those geckos go for thousands of dollars, and even though I would never spend that sort of money on a gecko no matter how cute it is, to someone else that gecko is a hobby of theirs that they'd pay that sort of money to get, just like i'd pay thousands for a nicely trained horse but not for a gecko and those gecko people probably wouldn't pay a dime for a horse

Though if i really wanted the gecko i'd have to cough up the money and that's just how it is. Sometimes you get a good deal, and other times you got to pay the full price.... or in your situation, you got a free sample of hair stuff for a perfectly good processed bird!
