Awww, cute mallards. Generally, they can be voice sexed as early as four weeks, sometimes a little longer. If you are familiar with the breed, you sometimes can tell earlier than that just from experience. What will happen is that a female's peep will have a loud "quack!" pop out once in a while. The male's voice, I've noticed, will generally get raspier and raspier as he matures.
One thing I've noticed is that female ducklings, in general, seem to be much more vocal than the males with constant contact sounds and peeping over everything. But, this is not a reliable way to tell because there are a few male ducklings who can be that way, too.
