All you pheasant phenatics this is for you, what is required to look after pheasants, id love to get some but not sure what it takes, i have a flock of 16 chickens at the moment, would they mix in with them? do they fly? do they need to live in trees? are they similar to game chickens? JUST EVERYTHING YOU KNOW TO OWN, SET UP AND CARE FOR PHEASANTS???? EVERYTHING

Care will also vary depending on the species you are considering keeping.

No pheasants don't mix with any other type of domestic fowl at all. They fly exceptionaly well, require a completly enclosed pen, like to roost off the ground. You cannot free range them or your never see them again. With a lot of human interaction they can become very friendly, but not tame. They hate being touched, but will set on your shoulder or lap for a treat (except Ringnecks). They contact many diseases from domestic birds, that domestic birds are immune to and should be com-pletly seperated from them. They are easy to raise and a fun project, but it is best to learn all you can about raising them before you buy your first bird.

i live in Australia so are there permits here aswell? and i have chickens so im not sure where else id keep the pheasants. They look amazing though and maby it will be a future endevour. But i would still like some more info on them please?

If there is a hunting season on them you will likely need some kind of papers and meet a few requirements Space per bird and security of your inclosure are the main thing in Oklahoma USA. .
