So about a month ago, I came home from work to find one single chicken in my yard. None of my neighbors have chickens, and no one ever came looking for her. My husband and I had discussed getting chickens, and this just kind of jump started our plans for that lol. We kept her alone for a while to rule out any illness before adding a few more girls.

But I would love to figure out what breed she is, just to have some idea of what care she needs, if she will lay eggs regularly, etc.

The feathers under her chin are extremely soft and downy, and mat easily if she is exposed to any damp dirt. The same under her wings, extremely downy feathers (much softer than my other girls down feathers) ,and is also easily matted with dirt.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

She looks like an Easter egger. Do you know what color of eggs she lays?

No, she still hasn’t laid any as of yet. I’m not sure of her age, so I don’t know if she’s started laying yet. All my other girls lay brown though, so if there’s a new color at any point, it would have to be her.
