What is sweet Lyme?

I think that's what my DHs friend called it...He said I should use this in my coops/pens instead of DE.
 
I think your hubby's friend meant garden Lime. You use it to sweeten the soil. Most till it into the soil of their runs. It lower the PH in the soil.
 
okay, he said to sprinkle it in the coop and run and then dust them w/sevin once a month.
 
By using the term sweet he might be referring to agricultural lime which is safe around animals. There is another lime, called caustic lime or quick lime that can burn them. There is also hydrated lime which is used kind of like a disinfectant and keeps bacteria from growing and repels insects. So he could mean that one also.

Edited to add: It is the hydrated lime that I use in my stalls and coop after I clean them and before I add the new shavings. You can still use the DE sprinkled in the shavings too.
