What is the best way to get rid of Scaly Leg Mites?

Hi everyone, I've heard a few methods on getting rid of scaly leg mites; but which, in your opinion, works the best????

Coat the legs with petroleum jelly. It will suffocate the mites. Repeat in about a week or so until the legs look smoth again.
