I currently have a small free range flock of 4 bantam hen and1 bantam roo.

1 Silkie
2 Mille Fleurs
1 Barred Rock
1 Mottled Java Roo

Does anyone know the best way to introduce two 1 month old Wyandotte Pullets to our little flock?

At first I simply let the little ones outside with the flock, the Roo was a tad feisty with them and attacked once, but they kept thier distance for the most part. So I put a separate cage in the coop for a week and a half now. When I took the chicks out and sat in the coop with them to observe, the Roo ignored them, but the Mille Fleurs were attacking them. Are they just establishing pecking order or is this going to be impossible. Should I let them peck it out or is this hopeless?

What is the best way to do this cause I have more babies to introduce in soon.

Oh, and if anyone wants fertile eggs from these breeds (hybrid eggs of course) Let me know! :)

Thank you!

When I did this I built a temporary run alongside the permanent run and let them hang out together during the day without being able to get to one another. After about a week, I let them free range together for short period of times. After 2 weeks, I put the new birds in the coop after it was dark and everyone was sleeping. They all woke up together and it worked well. good luck

My adults free range in the yard. The chicks started 10 days ago pending the days in the run . the hens go near the chicks but couldn't get in. Then after a week I started letting the chicks access to the yard for a couple hours. They don't venture too far from the run and the hens are bored when they go in the run so they usually stay out. Each day the chicks are venturing further. I figure in another week, they should be good to roam all day together in the yard. I thought I would try putting them to bed together last night but when the Americauna saw the older chick she puffed up and I decided not to try that quite yet.

Good luck.
