What is the best way to secure my run?

Does anyone have any thoughts about how to secure runs: Buried wire vs/ Running the wire 12" in front of the run.

Go look up "electric fence" they are easy to set up and are with a 6 volt battery. Nothing will get in to your coop. A "shock" will stop the varmits!

we did both - buried it almost 2 feet and out 2 feet with rocks (big ones) on top of the 2 feet out and then buried that under the dirt and guess what the critters did - they just pulled them out through the wire! GO ELECTRIC! I am looking at it currently

Edited to say: I think we all should have some sort of laser systems and anything that comes near our coops that don't belong will be vaporized on the spot. Gosh I have been watching Sci-fi (hubby) and cartoons (son) too much. I gotta get out more.
