My full-size Ameraucana started laying at 21 weeks, as did my Japanese Buff Bantam (she is TINY! as are her eggs
) My full-size SLW has had bright red comb and wattles for weeks, and hasn't laid an egg yet....all 3 of mine are 22 weeks today.
My Ameraucana's comb is bright red sometimes...other times it is paler. My JBB's comb and wattles are very small, and usually just pink, not red, though they turn red when she gets excited about something. So judging the start of egg-laying by looking at the comb color and development hasn't worked out like I'd expect. LOL.
