What is the meaning behavior?

My Dominique Hen started laying 4 days ago. When I arrived at home I found an egg on open ground outside my coop. Only to find out that my Dominique started laying. She go to nesting box few minutes, and in a blink of an eye she go out and lay on ground 3 metres from the coop. Any idea of this behavior?

For whatever reason, it seems that new layers take a while to get the hang of using nest boxes. I'd suggest keeping her in the coop until she has laid - do this for 2-3 days and i would think that she will continue to lay in the coop.

It can take them up to a month to 'get it'.
