I can't figure out how I would put dropping boards in my barn. Are the roosts okay without them? Whats the roost height for orpingtons/brahmas?

You dont have to have dropping boards at all, the standard height for roosts is between 4 and 6 feet tall.

My roosts are around 3 feet off the floor. In my brahma coop there is a large rock that they use as a stepping stone to get up although they would manage without it. It's just there and too heavy for me to move! My orps manage to get up to the roost no problem, even my huge blue boy.

The roost for my BOs is 30 inches high. They jump up and down with no problem. I use deep litter and that helps cushion their landing (thump).

I have 8 BO's, just now 7 weeks old. They jump up and down to their 36" roost without a problem, and up to the 40" cabinet fairly easily as well. They do tend to prefer the lower perches, I think (I have a couple around 12").

so,.... what I'm getting from this is that the first roost needs to be 36" off of the floor. And then how much should they spaced apart and high?
