When I bought these two at the feed store they told me they were Buff chicks... But now one looks like it may be a Red sex link?

And then form the same feed store i bought two yellow chicks. One is starting to look like a Leghorn (maybe?) but this one started to develop little black spots on either end of its tail and on the outside feather of both wings.

I know its hard to tell for sure when they are so young but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Many hatcheries, such as Meyers, sell a red sex link they call "Golden Buffs". Like Cinnamon Queen, Golden Comets, Red Stars, etc, etc, these are all just made up names for marketing. It is possible you bought "Golden Buffs" which are indeed a super laying, red sex link.

I'd be very curious about the white one. Cockerels of the red sex links are white, but later develop some brown/black feathers on their back and wings.

Or, your feed store sells white chicks which are often sold as California Whites, etc. These are Leghorn crosses and also great layers.

Yes I agree.

Its interesting that you say that about the white one. I was looking at an interesting way to sex bird with their tail feathers. If they fan when you put them upside down its a hen... Although this one was sexed as a pullet "she" doesn't fan her tail. I dont know how accurate that way of sexing is though

At 5 or 6 weeks, if small, red wattles appear and the combs sprout red, then you've got a cockerel, no matter the breeding. Pullets will not sprout wattles nor will their combs turn red at just 6 weeks. Since you were sold these chicks as "Buffs", I still am inclined to think sex links and if one has turned white, it is likely a male, while the females will feather in "buff" or light brown mix, thus the term buff.

Well, the cockerel in question came as a yellow chick so it really does fit as a sex link cockerel idea but "hes" starting act more like a pullet. It's comb hasn't really developed and its not red yet and so far no wattle. And i read somewhere that if you tilt them forward only females will fan there tails (not sure how reliable this is) and it didn't at first but the other day I unintentionally leaned "him" forward and he fanned his tail.
As for the two buff chicks, one stayed buff and has pale colored legs so I'm thinking maybe it is an orp? While the other one is definitely a sex link she looks exactly like one!
Its just that white one I can't figure out.
Also, a friend said the white one could be a Brahma even though it doesn't have feathers on its feet. Is that true??
I really am at a loss with him/her

I figured maybe updated pictures would be good

Here is the mystery chick

And now the two buff chicks.
Here is my sex link

And my possibly Buff Orp chick. Let me know what you think she is

If you want more pictures tell me. I just really want to find out what that white chick is. I know i should just wait till it gets older, but I'm a terrible waiter
