What is this chicken behaviour??

I'm sending my girls outside in the playhouse during the day. The little table that is attached to the wall is down and makes just enough of a space for the girls to hide behind. That's where they are most of the time. Do they need a nest box, or is this just their way of feeling safe? I sure don't think they miss me, and are way too young to lay eggs. They didn't do this until a couple of days ago.

hmmm not sure. Could something have scared them while in there?

well, me trying to get them out, the rain that they hadn't seen before, nothing else.

Well if they have access to a run and go outside fine and when they go in the coop and stay under the table thing. I am guessing that they just like that spot most.
