What is this? Citrus tree in NJ

My family moved 2 years ago to our current house. Oddly there has always been this large bush with thorns all over it, that produces these citrus fruits that ripen to a orange yellow every fall. They are small and have a little fuzz on the rind, like a peach. We haven't consumed them yet, but when cut open, they smell like lemons, are like lemons, but are chock full of seeds. Anyone have any idea what they are? They are really odd. It's dark now, but I'll post pics of the bush and fruits tomorrow. Thanks!
