My son and I were looking on Ebay and spotted some eggs for sale. Upon looking at the pic of the parents we saw this one with a weird clip in its nose. What is that for? Google couldn't tell me.

PS... we are not buying these eggs LOL

Not familiar with their use myself, but my google-foo turned this up to be an anti-peck device. This also seems to be known as a "bumpa bit" and some of the searches I am seeing shows that this one might be installed incorrectly.

Thanks! We saw the "Anti-Peck" clips in our google search, but it looked like that went over the front of their beak. Makes sense they cant bite, but i'd imagine that would be uncomfortable for the bird to eat and drink... and breathe :|

Yea, just looking at these things, I would not subject my birds to this. If I have a pecking issue, I will either try to break the bully be removal then reintegration, or culling. Alternatively, if the pecking isn't causing injury, just let it play out and get their pecking order sorted themselves.

Yeah I saw that and my first thought was it was something to correct breathing, then I was thinking why would you advertise eggs from a bird that needs that thing?? Lol. I don't plan on ever buying eggs off eBay, prices are ridiculous.

I didn't even know these types of things existed. And totally appreciate the quick comments. My son found it interesting as well.

And totally agree with you guys, I don't think I would ever use these either. If pecking is that big of an issue, I wouldn't keep the chicken... Jussayin lol
