Hello, ok I am posting this up for a freind. She found this in her pen where her hens are.

It looks like just the yolk of an egg.
Any idea?

Don't worry! This is normal for chickens to every once in awhile to have an unusual egg. Sometimes they are really, really tiny eggs, sometimes there will be an egg, and when you crack it open, there is a tiny egg inside it. This is just an egg that didn't form a shell around it...so I wouldn't panic=)

I am assuming that your chickens usually lay normal eggs.

This is from my friend s, I think this is the first time egg like that.

Thank you guys for all the help.

Like warfrost said, it happens every once in a while. Keep watch for any more. If she has them everyday then there is a problem.

Yes - chickens do lay weird eggs once in a while - for no known reason.

One thought is to make sure they have access to calcium.. generally given by free choice oyster shell.
