What is this free chick?

Just got this fierce little thing today- I believe it is my free "rare" chick b/c it doesn't look like any of the other chicks, and I ordered them in sets of 5.

I will eventually figure out the rest- we ordered "araucanas," buttercups, NH reds, single comb brown leghorns, and buff rocks, but I have no clue what this one is.

Some help, please?

Where did you order him from? If McMurray, they have pics of day olds that you can compare to. It's a fun guessing game. All I can tell from that pictures is that he looks mad

That GS does look similar....

I did get them from MM- my problem is that any one of my chicks could be what they have pictured for "araucanas" so identifying the rest of them gets a bit tricky.

I am going to go study the pictures there.

And yes, this little one is fierce and has a po'd look on her/his face at all times. When I took it out of the box to photograph it, it ran over and pecked angrily at my hand....

it is very cute! I got the rare breed special from MM so all my chicks are guessing games.. one isnt too bad LOL I didnt get any that looked like that as a new chick so cant help ya much..

You know, I think you may be right about the GLW! I did a search for that Sebright on the MM site, and it appears that they don't sell them, so it would be highly unlikely that I got one.

But they do sell GLWs and the ones on the MM website look an awful lot like Fudge Brownie (which is what DD is calling her/him now.)

Off to read more about GLWs- thanks, everyone, for your input!

It's likely a roo, too. From all I've heard that is what a majority of the "free" ones are.

yup, looks just like the 4 glw i got from them last week. my rare was a salmon faveroles (i ordered two pullets) they also threw in an extra phoenix roo and 7 red star roos "for warmth". honest, 31 chicks in june, how much warmer did they need to be??? mine are very friendly though.
your auacaunas should have grey legs and puffy cheeks, i got a white one!!! for the life of me i can't tell the phoenix from the silver leghorns, or the columbian wyndottes from the cuckoo marans:/
