I had this Chicken for only 5 1/2 weeks. She is a 14 month old EE. She was fed Kitchen Scraps, No Corn, Non Soy pellets. Oyster Shells as a free choice, Water w/ garlic and or ACV. She had previously laid Blue/ Green eggs for prior owner, but had not laid a single egg for me. After 2 weeks of not laying I looked a bit closer and found she han an enlargement below her vent. I did an internal exam suspecting she was egg bound, but could not feel any communication with an egg. I proceded to give her warm epsom salt baths daily for 1 week then reduced to as needed (weekly)because she would get real nasty dirty. I tried to increase calcium intake as well. After about 3 or 4 weeks she became notably heavier and enlargement became bigger. It was firm and oval in shape not fluid like so I ruled out Peritonitis, but began suspecting it was NOT an egg. The end results was euthanasia and a necropsy of sorts. Just trying to get some validation on my best guess. I think this is a Uterine /Oviduct Tumor of some kind? It was MASSIVE so what I felt externally was just a small part. Im not sure how she fared as well as she did! Thankful she is no longer in discomfort.[VIDEO]

Upon further research I am thinking now it is Lash Egg/ Salpingitis. I will add that I did notice she would sneeze sometimes, but did not have any nasal mucus or anything that made me think respiratory inf. I am now concerned for the remaining birds. Help!

Looks more like a case of internal laying/egg peritonitis.
I was under the impression that peritonitis was more fluid filled. This Mass was like Layers OF FIRM (Harder towards the middle) layered scrambled egg.

I'm not meaning to be disagreeable. Just everything I read regarding EP talks much about fluid and spongey feel to abdominal mass. There was absolutely no mistake. It was hard/ firm. I am really freaked out though I only have 3 other birds. All came from same place. And now I think she had something contagious! Should I be treating them all with an antibiotic?? I have gotten a couple "wrinkled" eggs... not sure which one (not her she wasnt laying at all) Should I just cull the rest and start over??

Peritonitis can have slightly fluid type masses or be more solid and firm depending on how long the internal laying has been going on. I think your hen had been laying internally for at least several weeks or more.
I don't think it's something contagious at any rate. Ovarian problems tend to be more genetic or congenital, than contagious.

This is the 3rd egg like this I have gotten in the last week and a half. Do you think this is related to the cause of illness mentioned above? I understand wrinkled eggs happen but does the frequency indicate an infectious illness like Lash egg obstruction??
