What IS this?????

I don't know what kind of turtle would have laid an egg that big anyway. Since it's not leathery, I doubt it could be a snake's egg.

The egg didn't hatch anything (hole at the top is on the wrong end, and it's not big enough to have been an escape hatch for a baby), it was probably stolen (from a nest elsewhere) and dropped where you found it after something ate the insides. Maybe it was a goose pullet egg? lol I remember my granddad had geese and the eggs laid were much larger than the one you're showing. Perhaps a duck's egg?

From when you posted the original address ...guess you edited it out now... I selected the text, right clicked, selected "copy" and then pasted into the address bar. It brought me to the picture. I then right clicked on the picture selected "copy imagine location" came back to BYC and pasted it on this thread with IMG tags. That's how I got the picture on here.

Anyway it's a pretty darned big egg and I already made my guess.

My husband said Mr Fox probably stole it from somewhere and dragged it to our yard--knowing Our Mr Fox, he's probably right. also, I didn't think it looked hatched properly, but I am no expert. Someday I'll tell you about Our Mr Fox and how he dragged our 15 foot downspout extender several hundred yards onto our neighbor's property in the middle of the night trying to get at a baby bunny. If I hadn't seen it myself I would be spending my whole life wondering who stole my downspout! I guess I just told you that story....anyway, thanks to all of you for the help. I have learned SO MUCH from this forum.
