I don't know what kind of turtle would have laid an egg that big anyway. Since it's not leathery, I doubt it could be a snake's egg.
The egg didn't hatch anything (hole at the top is on the wrong end, and it's not big enough to have been an escape hatch for a baby), it was probably stolen (from a nest elsewhere) and dropped where you found it after something ate the insides. Maybe it was a goose pullet egg? lol I remember my granddad had geese and the eggs laid were much larger than the one you're showing. Perhaps a duck's egg?
