What is worse for chickens to eat? Cat food or Dog food?

I wanted to see if chickens eating cat food is worse for them than dog food. My chickens often eat cat food and dog food so I wanted to see witch was worse.

Both are fine in moderation. I don't think any is worse than the other.

If they're pilfering the bowls periodically I doubt any harm would come from either. As a main diet, I don't think either would provide necessary nutrition.

My chickens prefer cat food, Meow Mix is their favorite. Never had an issue come from it. I try to feed my cats BEFORE free ranging the chickens or they'll eat it all before the poor kitties get a chance

Same! They like the cat food and always try to get to it if there is little crumbs left after the cats have eaten. Since they are barn cats (in the same barn as the chickens), it is really easy for the chickens to get to it

I think cat food, maybe dog food too, is high in salt- which isn't good for chickens.

You might try doing a search to see if this topic has been discussed before. I'm no help...my cats are indoor only and I don't have a dog.
