What is wrong with my duck

You've never had a duck lay like that? That's interesting! All my ducks are like that. Just drop an egg wherever they feel like it 🤣
Usually if I wait a little later in the day to let them out of their coop they will lay in the morning so that eggs aren't all over the yard outside.

No my other ducks lay in the nesting boxes its just the one that lays wherever. So if it's not a weird thing I won't worry about it. They don't get locked up they come and go from coop to yard as they please it's fort nox according to my husband

It's not a weird or abnormal thing for ducks, for sure. A bit annoying sometimes, but typical.

My son has a pekin that has laid all winter. When she started stickign to one corner, I put in a nesting box and she immediately started using it.
His other two females -- a crested pekin and a muscovy ceased laying over the winter but are sporadically starting to lay now. I put in two more boxes. While the crested will occasionally sit in a nesting box during the day, she doesn't lay in it. Neither does the muscovy. The drake fairly often sits in the third nesting box when he is confined to the coop for naughty behavior. One morning last week there were three eggs -- one in the pekin's nesting box and two nearby. This morning, there were two in the pekin's nesting box but from the shape of the eggs, one was laid by the muscovy before the pekin got in a laid her egg.

Ducks are just like this -- they often lay their eggs and leave. Last year we had to retain the ducks in the coop each morning until they had laid, as the crested was holding her egg and then laying it in hidden places in the garden!!
