What is your favorite childhood Christmas memory

When I was in 6th grade, my mother arranged the Christmas show at my school. She knew my favorite carol was "O, Holy Night," and she planned to have me sing it along with a boy from the class. I was terrified and not very confident, and asked to not do it, because I was sure she did it only because I was her daughter. I still remember her telling me, "Yes, I gave it to you because you're my daughter, but I wouldn't have done it if I didn't also know you could do it well."

I thank her for that reply. She gave me confidence at an age where I really needed it.

I know
Hahaaa, sounds like fun! I don't think I attended a midnight Mass till I was older, in my teens. Went to the church on sherman and Alameda, do you know it?
Oh it's a beautiful old church like St Francis? on university blvd. around louisiana or so . We went to a ew church up on Colo Blvd close to Evans . It was too new, not pretty. I loved the incense and the Nuns would sing.

We would leave my Mom's side on Christmas Eve after dinner and go to Dad's side to play bingo eat tiny finger sandwiches till time for midnight mass. Great memories. One year when I was 5-6 they made me imitate " Elvis"singing " blue suede shoes" with an air guitar before I got my presents! :wee  I had a swirly skirt with glitter on it. Ha ha
I loved the tiny sandwiches. Made on these baby loaves of pumpernickel bread about 2"x 2" ( I think you can only get bread at deli section of stores.) Tiny tuna fish and egg salad . And the prizes were tiny old fashioned candy like wax coke bottles? Candy cigarettes, and tiny jawbreakers in little clear plastic containers. Anyone remember those??

I remember them all, including licorice pipes! Those were the days.
