What is your favorite quote?

Yes, it’s unfortunate but with so many people on here there’s bound to be a few! But I’m glad you’ve encountered more good ones. :) I think that is wonderful too you love your flock so much. :love how many do you have? And what breeds do you have? Sorry for being so nosy 😂🤣🙈 oh and :welcome
Thank you! Nosy? I love to talk about my Chickens! I have 7 Lavender Orpington hens and 1 Roo (who is currently being nursed back to health in my “hospital room” with an injury, really hope he will be ok) 9 Chicks that are about 3 months old and 3 that are about 2 months. We also have 5 broody hens (4 of them for the first time). They are sitting on almost 40 eggs combined that should hatch in the next week. We also have 12 Welsh Harlequin ducklings that are only about a week old:) How about you?

Ooooohhhhh that’s amazing!!! :love your birds are gorgeous! :love

I love talking about my birds too haha

I have a Lavender Orpington cockerel and I love him :love

Right now I have 9 adults and 9 chicks that are 3 months old today actually. I also currently have a broody sitting on 7 eggs from Jack :lau 🙈 she’s about a week into incubation now.

I also just hatched quail recently too so now I have quail for the first time. :lau I think they’re about 5 weeks now but I’m not really sure. I don’t count those though ;)

My birds are all various breeds and ages. But I have a Buff Orpington, a Black Australorp, 2 Easter Eggers, a White Leghorn, a Partridge Rock, a Delaware, and a Speckled Sussex, who is the broody one right now. And then the chicks are bantam birchen Cochins and cream & gold Brabanters.

I would love ducks or turkeys eventually but that would require a whole new set up :lau

Love it! Sounds like such a colorful flock! This is our first year doing Chickens and after lots of research I decided on the Lavender Orpington’s, but since we have gotten them all I have definitely been wanting to add more breeds! They are kind of addicting!

It definitely is!!! I’ll have to get some current pictures of them! Haha and nice!!! They’re a good breed :love I know what you mean though!!! Except I would say they are very addictive. :lau 😜

I started about 5 years ago and for the first few years, I was good and kept my numbers to strictly 8 or under but then last year I added 5 more pullets in April and bought an incubator 😂🤣🙈

Hatched eggs for the first time in November. Ended up with 8 boys out of 9 chicks :th

Lost a couple, rehomed 4, kept 2 boys and the girl. Ended up having to put one boy and the girl down (they got sick) and still have the other boy.

Now I’m hatching his eggs. :lau

We had to build a new coop to house them all and because the old coop was now empty, I added 9 more this April :lau

Now have a second cockerel lol he’s staying too 😂🤣🙈

And of course hatched the quail last month.

Sooooo..... very addictive and beware of chicken math!!! :lau

At one point I was up to like 23 or 24 chickens but then I lost a few to predators plus various other addition and subtractions and now I’m “down” to “only” 16 chickens but I also have 19 quail (was 20) and 2 parakeets so :lau

Chicken math spreads rapidly to other animals. At one point I also set up a few fish tanks last year too :lau But I’ve since dismantled those haha

Still have the budgies and cat tho 😂🤣

Hahaha, I can totally see this happening. We started with 15 and 7 were roosters, so that wasn’t going to work... but I started incubating in March and that became a monthly thing for a little while. I decided to take a break because we ordered ducklings and bam. That’s exactly when my 5 hens went broody...!

Sorry you ended up with so many roosters!! I got so lucky this last time. Ordered 5 straight run chicks with my 4 pullets and only got one rooster out of the group! :D I was so nervous after my previous experience. :lau

I’m so glad I have a broody this time cause hatching can be stressful 😂🤣

And with these new chicks, they should go broody a lot... bantam Cochins 😂🤣
