I let my chickens free range when I’m home. Something got him in the middle of the day. I’m absolutely heartbroken... he was my favorite. What do you think got him? I locked the rest of the chickens up and will probably keep them in the coop/run for a while now.

Sometimes Raccoons can do this as well as large felines

Would a dog do it? Since it's the middle of the day, it could happen.

Looks exactly like the red tail hawk kill I had last year. He didn’t get to finish his meal. I cleaned up the whole situation.

Side note. Chickens I had didn’t pay much attention to the sky before that. They sure do now.
