What kind of bator is this?

What a great gift! That is definately a sportsman, and it has an electronic thermostate. That's even better! The model you have was made before the 1502, which was the most recent until they came out with the new fancy one this year. It looks to me like it was set up for big eggs, like ostrich and rheas, judging by the 2 bars running down the tray. It is still great to hatch out regular chicken eggs though. It looks like you may be missing 2 trays? They are easy to build out of wood and wire, I have had to build a few for one of mine. You can also use egg cartons to set your eggs in the trays, Just cut the bottom out of the egg cartons and put your eggs in them. You can get 72 eggs per tray this way. Congradulations and happy hatching!

No, I didn't use any plans, I just took out the metal tray and measured it, got some 1"x1" boards at Lowes for .97 cents each, and cut them to the size of the metal tray, screwed them together, and stapled the heavy guage hardware wire on bottom. They slide right in just like the metal ones do. Easy to make and alot cheaper than ordering them from GQF.

With the plastic egg trays from GQF, Each rack will hold 96 large chicken eggs for a total of 288 eggs
