What kind of bug?

I found these little things tonight only by the automatic coop door. I checked different places in the coop (roosts, cracks, etc) but want able to find any others. Is it a bug from outside just making a home in the bedding or I dealing with something else?

Sorry for the horrible pictures they are hard to focus on.

Hard to see. Is it like a small three color, dark in the middle light on both ends beetle? If it is probably no big deal. I see them a lot around dead stuff. Not sure what they are but harmless, probably beneficial, eating crap.

I’ll check again in the morning to se if I can get a better photo. Plus it may be a good indication of what it is if it’s not out at night.


It looks oval shaped and it looks to have almost dark and light lines through body. I smashed a couple and there wasn’t blood so I’m not thinking mite.

I was going to mention the same thing when I saw your profile pic Lol!
They have quickly went from I would never own any, to my absolutely favorite, coolest , everyone should have them, bestest breed ever!!

@Beer can, I could not agree more! I would have never bought one but one ended up in some hatching eggs i purchased just over a year ago. Best surprise of chickening so far! Now I’m mixing n matching NN into every thing i breed!
