so I found these two geese one day and saved them, no momma goose was around and there were already some bloody puffs... only one of the two made it, I think the other sustained an injury.

not sure but I think these aren't a native species, they had bands on their legs when i found them. my grandmother insists they're canadian geese but i don't think so

can anyone help me figure out what this little gosling is? i've named it matilda 'cause I assume it's a female. all I know is some companies band the legs of the females.

no feathering has yet occurred, i'd guess she's maybe 2 or 3 weeks old. she's just gotten really tall and has some pinfeathers on her butt.

edit: also, we found her on May 8th and she still had her egg tooth, so I can't imagine she was more than a day old or so when I found her. she's imprinted on me and seems to be getting along with our six chicks(all hens, 3 golden laced wyandottes, 3 ameraucana).

Definitely not, canadians do not have a knob.  This baby has an obvious knob developing.

Ok then. I told my mother something weird was going on with the beak and the white tip on the beak made it look like an African. Pretty sure Canadians have pure black beaks.

Does she look healthy? I think she is, very plump, sociable, and affectionate. Very lively, loves to roam and graze, though she never strays too far from me.

the left lower leg seems way too curved... is the upper leg also abormal? sticking out to the side too much? try asking duck/goose folks about diet or something to correct that before it matures.

Sorry for not responding, I think it may be perspective? She has no problems and her diet wouldn't be to blame if it is a little off. Besides grass, the starter she's been raised on was suited to the needs of waterfowl, specifically for them. Had niacin, 18% protein, etc.

I'm going to post an update soon, her feathers have all come in and her voice is beginning to transition into a honk! As much as I dislike it, I had to clip her wings. She was getting quite some lift but she's VERY clumsy, and I'm afraid she'd fly into a wall and snap her neck or injure herself. Parrots at least move out of the way of obstacles(though some babies will have problems with being inexperienced and be clipped for the same reasons until they're a little older), but I don't think geese would necessarily move out of the way of an obstacle... Plus, I'd rather her roam around and eat grass on sunny days without worrying about her flying too far, getting lost, etc.

Edit: Also, now I'm thinking maybe she's a hybrid with a Brown Chinese and an African? Her neck is really really skinny but her body is plump like an African's... It's a little confusing.
