Do ya all candle with? I don;t know if my eggs aren't developing or my light just isn't working for me.

I'm on Day 7 on my one batch of eggs and I really don't see any red spidering! URGGHHHH!

Slide projector turned on its back. Works beautifully.

Cyn...I got a projector off ebay, but won't be able to try it out until the end of next week when the current hatch hits 10 days. I've got some of my dark marans eggs in too, so that will be the test for the projector!!

Katy, get you a washcloth and cut a hole in it smaller than the end of the egg and place it over the beam to concentrate it and also to cushion the egg.
Holly, you can use one of those superbright LED flashlights/maglites-lots of people do.

Try a small mag light from Wal-mart.....darken the room your in... I also candle at night and turn the lights off in the kitchen where I have the bator...

I also made a candler out of a heat lamp cover, just turned it light side up put a 100 watt bulb in it and a frizbee that I cut a hole in the middle to cover it...placed blackened tape like gorilla tape all over it or electrical tape except the hole...works great too...clamp it onto a counter or desk...

Thanks for all the ideas. I've been using a little LED light with 3 bulbs. Sucker is so bright that it blinds ya if you don't move and not be looking at it when you move the egg. Maybe I still have too much ambient light with the TV on. I normally turn the lights out and close the door most of the way, but the TV is almost always on.

I'll give it a another go in a few days.
