What kind of roosters?

Getting mostly Barred Rocks, and a few Buff Orpingtons, New Hampshires, Amber Stars. Had pretty well decided on Buff Orpington roosters, but now considering New Hampshire or Black Australorp, even wondered about an Amberlink or ISA Brown,
The Australorps would make for black sexlink pullets from the Barred Rocks?
Has anyone used any of the ISA Brown or other cross roosters?
Mainly just looking to hatch out a couple settings to get a few pullets for the next winters laying when the older birds molt.

New Hampshire is what you want. The red based roo over the Barred Rock will give you Black Sex Links (first generation only).

Red is a really nice base color that doesn't interfere with other colors so you can get a nice pallet.

Black is dominant, and you'll soon have all black birds. Yes, it would create sex linking the first generation with the Barred Rock (barred boys, black girls). But soon you'd have black, black, black for all generations.

New Hampshires are lovely birds if you get them from a breeder. Hard to find good quality from a feed store/hatchery.

The ISA's etc aren't purebreds, so you add that to the genetics. You won't get sex linking off of them.

My 2 cents.
