Tough to say without knowing more because there are a lot of varieties of black chickens. The most common is probably Australorp so it could be that breed.

You mean it hatched from an Orpington egg? That does make sense to me. There are black Orpingtons. And lavender Orpingtons will hatch black chicks, too.

Lavender

Lavender is black diluted by two copies of the lavender gene. With only one copy the bird is black instead of lavender. https://www.backyardchickens.com/posts/24428758

White gets weird with dominant white and recessive white. I don't understand it well enough to explain it.
