What made your flock Happy today ? :)

Well, it was yesterday actually.


They got to go in the front yard again. It has been a while

We had temps in the 50's which was GREAT ! I got all the metal shavings off the ground from the carport and put the short wire fence up so they couldn't get out of the front yard. They were SO HAPPY that I didn't think they would even come back into the run.

I even was able to use the Electric Leaf/mulcher Blower and they were ok with that.

Nothing made them happy yesterday...Today the temp is going up to -1C...Its been cold here, -18C with a -25C windchill..That should make them happy..I'm cleaning the Coop also...Today they can get out and free range a bit..

My chickens got into a tuff with my in laws dogs (yesterday) So, I’m sure that I was here to save them made them happy and still alive. Ugh. This chicken rearing is wearing me down and it’s only been 3 weeks!

I know what you mean - ours got to go out the other day when it was unusually warm, and they loved it, too!

The thing that made our girls happy yesterday was, Hubs had put a 2nd roosting bar up (slightly above the original bar) for the pullets when they started following mama hen up to roost. He had taken it down a few days ago so they all could roost together, but the older biddies were being quite mean to the pullets. So yesterday, Hubs put the 2nd bar back up, and the pullets very readily jumped back up there last night. No bickering, no getting pecked by the older hens, no feathers being pulled out - I think they're quite happy about that!

I put a couple of tree trunk stumps in where they range, wish I'd of gotten some video as they all played queen of the stump! Lasted a good 45 minutes and continued throughout the day off and on. Not sure who is more easily entertained ...me or my girls!

Mine were happy today because they got some fresh cucumbers and tomatoes for a nice treat. Even the 6 1/2 week old chick's went crazy over them!

None were 'invited' to Thanksgiving dinner. That made them very happy.

Oatmeal!!! They love it. Now that the weather is cold, I give them some nice warm oatmeal with some cracked corn and blueberries or mealworms before they go to roost.
