what makes a egg smooth stippled or spotted

smooth stippled or spotted
is one egg better then the other for show or breed ?
and has it anything to do with kind of breed?
or good breeding stock ?
or age ?
or diet ?
i am talking about marans eggs.

I, don`t know, but I had some that were the prettiest dark even colored eggs, and at least one a day that was lighter with the prettiest dark brown freckles all over it, like she hadn`t learned how to get it on quite right. I`m not sure if she got over it, I sold them with with my flock. Therehwas another thres wherehsomeone had the same thing going on. It seemed to be pretty common among hatchery stock anyway.
