What makes chickens laced or Wyandotte or Sebrite

A laced bird is a bird that has the pattern of feathering where almost every feather is out lined in a different color then the rest. a wyandotte is a duel purpose bird that has a rose comb, and lays brown eggs. a Sebright is a bantam that has the lacing pattern and is known to have hen feathers on both sexes. Does this answer your question?

Several genes can play a part in lacing---Must carry a Ml gene (Melanotic) and Pg (Pattern Gene) gene. Without both genes present as dominant you get incomplete lacing, which is not a desirable trait. Other genes then play into the color as well such as silver and gold.
