What material on the bottom of the hatcher?

Is 1/4 hardware cloth ok on the bottom of the hatching tray or should it be lined with paper toweling?

I've been doing half hw cloth half towel lately after some splay leg issues. Seems ok, probably not necessary anymore as we seem to have better luck hatching lately.
