What preditor killed my hen?

Her upper body and head are missing. The rest is intact. There is a VERY LARGE pile of feathers about 6 feed from her body.
we live in the country surrounded by woods in the Souttheast USA. Hawk? (do they pluck the feathers?)....a coon? A cat?

It sounds very much like a hawk or owl kill.

Hi there , what time of day was the kill?

We thought around 5pm. But after thinking about our days activities and where we were through out the day it had to have taken place between 10am-3pm.
