What pretty border plants can I plant over the HC apron?

I am going to try some candytuft seeds for a similar situation, mostly shade, mountain climate.

I second the nasturtiums, they are beautiful and your girls will love monching them. If you let them fully flower and die back naturally they will self seed for next year. Another thought is to cast out some arugula and romaine seeds. They grow well in partial shade and are a delicious supplement to the hens’ (and your family's) diet. They obviously don’t really flower or grow very high, but they are nice as a ground cover with a dual purpose. I would definitely go for something the hens can eat, because they for sure will!
