What quality are my MARANS - - BE GENTLE.

I have a couple of very young roos that I have picked up from somebody else - - - - They are about 2 months old. . . . .

The one young roo is very stocky and solid. He is, my opinion, of a very good size for just turning 2 months of age. I have great expectations for him. I saw one of these guys daddy's and he was HUGE.

I can't wait to see what they develope into . . . .

My black copper marans pullets and roos have that pretty green sheen.

He is just shy of two months and crowing. I think he is going to make an excellent lead roo for my sweet girls.

Which Marans thread are you ladies talking about ? ? ?
I saw one Marans thread and there was some serious tough love going on in it.

I have only seen that much STRONG emotion on BYC when somebody posts a question about their Amerarcauna and aracuna when it is really an EE.

I just want to learn . . . . without being condemed.
Some of those comments would make me

I think you have a great start on the hens and the roosters. I like the big boy rooster also. Have to see what his color will turn out to be also.
As they get older I have seen them get more color so your blue hens could get more you just never know.

good luck, looks like your on your way.

You will feel the love.......everyone in that thread is very helpful. I appreciate opinions and input from everyone in that thread...new and old. IMO its that only way to learn somethings that you just can't get out of a text book.

Hi Math Ace. I'm on that thread now trying to learn as well. I haven't seen any nastiness lately over there. I need to get some pics of my birds up as well. We just moved and have been spending our free time trying to get the gardens in and chicken coops built.
I haven't even started on the inside of our house yet -still knee deep in boxes but.... I do have my incubators going again with more BCMs and golden cuckoo marans-so there's addiction for ya LOL! So I try to post when I can

How is your garden doing so far this season?
~Lenette

ETA: I think your birds are beautiful. Your blue copper hens have more copper in thier necks than mine do so far. Mine are only 3 1/2 mos old though. I have 2 blue copper hens and 5 blue copper roos grrr. I think some of the roos are gonna turn out real nice. They have copper on the back of thier necks and just starting to get thier coppering on thier wing triangle and saddle feathers. They are all huge and have feathered legs. A few have massive leg feathering lol.
Your little roos look promising too. I would keep them both and see how they fill out. I think I have one bcm roo that is gonna be really nice (he is 3 mos) and 2 that I will need to cull because they have too much coppering.
