What really is cheaper, buidling ones run or new panels

The reason I ask this, is the more I price hardware cloth, wood to do a full 200 square foot run out of solid hardware cloth, wood- I would want the size done appropriately from the get go..since the post would be permanent

In comparison to starting with. 10x10 kennel, tsc 279.99 extra door panel 120.00, hardware for bottom and chicken wire for top or hardware for top, adding extra panels when needed.
So basically, iam looking at what 500.00 for my run

Does it cost 500.00 to do a wood run, with hardware ware cloth...?
Which of you think, which route is less costly

In my opinion, you don't need harware cloth for the run - only for the coop.

have you checked out craigslist for kennel panels? There's almost always some on there in our area. Or they also have heavy duty plastic chicken fence that you could use for the run and it's much easier to work with than wire. Also, cattle panels - they're 16 feet long and about $20.

A run is to prevent day time animals from getting in - so dogs and the like depending on where you live - so hardware cloth seems like overkill.

Can I connect cattle panels to wood post then? And then chicken wire across the top

If you look at the coop section the majority of the runs are livestock wire. Usually, the smaller animals you have to worry about come out at night so that's why you use it on the coop.

Livestock panels and wire can be attached to wood or t - posts. I would use livestock wire over the top if you can - it's stronger. If you have racoons they'll try to get in there at night. The livestock wire should prevent that ... they can usually get through chicken wire.

I bought a kennel from TSC and plan to put in extension to make it 10x20. No plans to use hard wire cloth since we don't have issues with predators. Plus my runs are inside of a 6ft privacy fence. Do plan to use a nice poultry net for the top. I've not had a problem yet and my other runs are made with regular chicken wire.

yes, that would work. you can cut it in two (or bend it if you can) -- so with just 2 panels you'd have an 8x8 run, or 4 panels would be a 16x16 run.

remember to put an apron around the bottom of the run to prevent digging... any type of wire fence would work... even scrap.
