I picked up these two silkies at a local hatchery. I can't tell what gender they are, can anyone help me? They are 10 weeks old.

Chick number 1
700

700

700

700

Chick number 2
700

700

700

700

Then here is a picture of them together

I can say for sure that the second chick is a pullet. The first one, I'm not so sure. 10 weeks should be enough to tell their gender, but I don't know. It has a larger comb, but I don't see any wattles, at least in the picture. Are they bearded?

I was told to hold them by their feet upside down , the Roos will hang upside down with wings spread , the hens will scramble trying to get back up ! Anyone else try this ? Lol

That is an "Old Wives Tale" and is completely inaccurate, and bad for the chick. Please never try that. The only way to sex a chicken accurately is to examine the feathering and colors (if sex linked) and the wattles at at least 6 weeks of age.

An older gentleman told me this , he has 70 or more free- ranging most often and so far he has been spot on with all around
