WHAT SHOULD I BUILD

Hey everyone,
I took down a fence and built a couple things out of the fence boards but I still have a bunch of 4x4's, 4-6x6's, and about 10 1x3's. I hate wasting wood and I don't have room for it to sit around. What have you guys built for the chickens out of any of those or anything at all additional to the coop and run.

The only thing I can think of right now is to build a small temporary run and coop for the 6 chicks I have and I'll have another hatch coming soon hopefully.

We’ve built roosts for the birds. Some are between roof posts in the run, some are moveable, so the moveable ones are only about 18” High, with fairly wide sides on the base to keep it from tipping over.

You could construct a shade setup. I’ve seen short structures in runs that have a roof ... some people do this to create a separate, but covered area for an extra food/water station.

Some people put chicken swings in the run.

you could simply make a slatted “wall” meant to provide a visual disruption so lower pecking order birds can get away/out of sight of a higher pecking order bird. It could also provide shade and be a perch. The “wall could be 2-3’ tall. Don’t put it where it could create a dead end, which could result in a bird being cornered.
