Hi, I live in town and have a small backyard flock I am putting together. It is hens only. I need hens that are relatively quiet, docile and friendly. Nothing spooky or flighty. And of course pleasing to the eye.
This is what I am planning: I already have a Buff Orpington, two Black Copper Marans (one has recovered from pendulous crop but no longer lays, and will probably be re-homed) and a black EE/Cochin cross. I want to add two Barnevelder hens for their beautiful plumage (at least it looks beautiful on the internet).
How would this flock be as far as temperament, compatability, hardiness, beauty etc?
How do the Barnevelders compare to the Black Copper Marans?
Any suggestions or tips that I may not have thought of?
Thank You!
