I am investing in some show quality brahmas off a reputable breeder in the coming weeks. He will have a selection of 16 week old Brahmas up for grabs and I will be buying some off him. I am a good judge of Wyandotte’s but have never had brahmas before and would like some advice. All his hens are super quality but I would like to pick out the special ones out of his batch. What should I look for in the br Kiki ahmas. As I plan to show them I want to pick the best ones I can. Anyone with any advice please reply. Thanks. 🐓

Broad birds with legs far apart. Long neck, flat between shoulders, short back and upright tail. Tail 65 to 75 degrees from horizon. The body is square, note the short back and very wide stance. Breast is curved and full.

Above is the basics of body type in the Standard of Perfection. You can purchase a book from APA if you're in America or the Standard of your country.

16 weeks is young for true evaluation of a breeder bird but in keeping the basic standard of body type in mind you should easily pick out the birds that stand out in that regard.
