We have a 6'x8' dog kennel that we're currently using to house our chickens but tomorrow (well....later today since it's so late), we're building them a coop from some wood that hubby got for free or either using our old shed...haven't decided yet.
Anyway, is the 6x8 kennel/dog run big enough for a run for now? We're currently looking for a house to rent or buy and will build something more permanent then...but for now will that be big enough? We do let them out to free range every evening for a couple of hours (unless it's raining).
We currently have 2 RIR pullets (that haven't layed yet...I'm waiting...any day...lol) and 1 RIR rooster and another EE rooster that we either need to separate or get rid of or something (although, hubby picked him up and held him for a while and it seems sort of that the RIR may be becoming the alpha now....) I know we need to get more hens especially if we keep the EE rooster.
ETA: I know the dog kennel/run needs chicken wire or hardware cloth around it. Right now it's currently closed in...we just want to add a coop and was wondering if the kennel was big enough for a run.
