What species is this?

This duck hangs out with the local mallards but I've never seen this kind of coloring on a mallard. Any ideas as to what species it is?

That's a domesticated duck. It was likely dumped there after someone realized they couldn't care for it.

Not too sure on the breed, but those are some beautiful colors. The stance makes me think it's a Runner though.

Definitely domestic. Poor duck it’s very visible to predators. Could be a mix of different ducks

Are you in a position to rescue the domestic duck? Perhaps a local wildlife rehabber will help you. It won't have useful flight and as mentioned above will be very vulnerable to predation. If it were near me, I would certainly rescue and rehome it.

She’s been around for fiveish years and there aren’t any predators around me big enough to take on a full grown duck. Plus, I don’t think my parents would appreciate driving me and an anxious duck an hour to the wildlife sanctuary lol.

She has been lucky: raccoons and foxes are everywhere and they love duck. great horned and barred owls can take out a fully grown duck. Then there are foxes, bobcats, fishers and other wildlife in different parts of th USA that predate on ducks

Okay! I'll check local wildlife facilities to see what they can do.
